The Bury's 'World Famous' Market is on the same site for nearly 600 years and is voted as the best 'British Market of the Year' by the National Association of British Market Authorities. The Famous Peel Tower that was built in remembrance of Sir Robert Peel, Prime Minister of the UK and founder of the police force, every year on Good Friday many people climb to the tower and this historical gathering had a principally religious purpose it is similar to the hill that Jesus is said to have climbed before he was crucified on Good Friday.
