Bury is historically a part of Lancashire emerged during the Industrial Revolution as a mill town centered on textile manufacture now a town in Greater Manchester, England. It lies on the River Irwell, north-northwest of the city of Manchester , west-southwest of Rochdale and east of Bolton and is surrounded by several smaller settlements which together form the Metropolitan Borough of Bury. The name Bury comes from an Old English word which means stronghold" or "fort".

The Bury Parish Church Bury Parish Church in the centre of the town and Silver Street contain many examples of mid-Victorian architecture.
