Accrington is an industrial town in Lancashire, England, located 20 miles north of Manchester and it is a former centre of the cotton industry and is a centre of the textile machinery industry. The name Accrington derives from Anglo-Saxon, ton means a town or enclosure of, ring means "the people of" and Accr is a distortion of a family called alker. The town is famed for manufacturing the hardest building bricks in the world, "The Accrington NORI" Which is IRON spelt backwards.
